Beautiful Clay County, Kentucky is part of Appalachia. The
county was created in 1807 and named for Green Clay, a cousin
of Henry Clay, a U.S. Senator from Kentucky. Land was given
from Floyd, Madison, and Knox counties to form Clay County.
The county seat is Manchester. Clay County is within the
Daniel Boone National Forest.
