James Ramey vs Lyndon Comstock, John G. Bush, and Jeremiah Bush
Filed June 15, 1813 Clark County Circuit Court Kentucky Submitted by Lyndon Comstock, lyndoncoms@aol.com, 9/15/2006
[Notes by Lyndon Comstock:
James Ramey states that for value received, the defendants Lyndon Comstock, John G. Bush and Jeremiah Bush agreed on June 3, 1813 to pay him $500 one day after the date of the note. He filed the complaint on June 13, alleging non-payment. The case was dismissed during the June session, with no indication given as to the reasonperhaps because the defendants paid the debt. There is no indication given as to what transaction underlay the creation of the note.
John G. Bush and Jeremiah Bush were brothers of Lyndons wife Julia. The brothers testified against Lyndon in later suits circa 1816 but here were apparently doing business jointly with him. $500 was a very sizable amount of money at the time. The witness D. Hampton is presumably the David Hampton who becomes the defendant in the Jackson vs Holladay case filed in 1822.
