Carter County Affidavits of Descent
John C. Porter
The first affidavit is dated May 25, 1931 and states that John C. Porter was a married man at his death.
The second one dated June 5th, 1931 states that he was an unmarried man.
W.A. Porter (John C. Porter’s son) must have uncovered some evidence during that two week time period that made him
change the information of his dad’s marital status.
John C. Porter and Martha Jane Adkins lived together as man and wife in Olive Hill in the 1920’s,
but we still have not found their marriage record.
