Submitted by Billie Miller to the Boyle County website.

Shelby City, KY
Feb the 12th 1875

Dear Mother

Yours of the 25th of Jan is at hand. In reply I have to say your letter contained no summons for me to except. You must have neglected enclosing it in your letter. To save you any further trouble, A. A. Dalton is my power of Atty to transact any business there that I may arthorize him to do.

"I hereby arthorize him to act in my stead in any way lawfully that will assist- you in regaining possession of your Old House or any thing else thare that I have any interest in what ever."

There is no Court in the state of NC that has any brains but what will admit this as same as if I were thare present in person.

Write soon - All is well here. Weather very cold.

Your Son
Wm. Murphy
