The Marshall Cemetery at Gunpowder Creek
The present owners of the land where the cemetery is on isCindy and Art
McCoy (from Indiana).
The cemetery was on the hill in back of the original
house. A view of the cemetery on Art and Cindy McCoy's
propertylooking East
overlooking Gunpowder Creek. From left and behind from where I took this
photo
was a sinkhole which was used for rubbish.
In the cemetery itself are several depressions (graves).
Tombstones have
been moved and reversed against the Cedar trees to protect the stones.
Wear boots
and long pants to avoid poison ivy.
James M. Marshall who died 28 Sep 1862 (tombstone, 79 yrs 8mo & 20days)is
also in this
cemetery but the photo did not come out well.
The BCHPRB family sheet on the Marshall Cemetery has
James W. Marshall
(January 24, 1829 and died May 1883) should read May 4, 1864. Refer to Will
Book I-515
Sally F. Marshall (admin) estate settlement and Boone Co.,Ky.,
Will Bk.H,p.423. This James W. Marshall was
son of James M. Marshall.
Clark; infant son of B & A.S. Clark. Never could figure out who
thiswas.
Laura B. Marshal married Charles Clark, but they were both born abt 1856.
Maybe Benjamin was
Charles Clark's father who shows up in the 1850 census
close by (District 1, 167)
Jackson; Andrew/born
1828/died 1850. Could have been someone hired to work
either of the two Marshall farms.
Alonzo is
the last of the Marshall to be buried in this plot.
