Newland, the place I now live on, together with the land I

father Joseph Newland, deceased, of Sullivan County,
Tennessee; and all the money that I hold on men by cash notes except one
thousand three hundred dollars; and my stock (horses, cattle, sheep, and
hogs); household and kitchen furniture; and all to the amount of one dollar.

State of Kentucky - Barren County Court - December Call Term 1863 The

of John Newland decd, was on the 21st Dec 1863 produced in
open court & proven by the oath of John C. Deweese, one
of the subscribing witnesses thereto; and was further proven on the 25th Nov
by Joseph B. Newberry, another subscribing witness thereto.

Note: The will was faithfully transcribed even to the mis-spelling of Peter
Depp's name, however punctuation was added for clarity. There is a $200
arithmetical error in the will in that he gave all cash, after expenses, to
his wife except for $1300; then bequeathed $1500. This was $200 more than he
had left to distribute. Perhaps this error was introduced as the will was
copied into the Will Book after being proved in court. Jim Newland
