Barren County Oldest School Teacher

Once a Teacher...Mrs. Mary Wilson Reed of 1 James Street in Glasgow is the oldest school teacher living in Barren County. Mrs. Reed, 93 was born December 1, 1882 in Glasgow Junction, now Park City. A graduate of the Glasgow Liberty Baptist Normal School, Frankfort, Mrs. Reed's first teaching assignment was in the Lucas community of Barren County. Active in the First Baptist Church, Glasgow, Mrs. Reed still is a member of the Church Aid Group she helped organize and of which she served as President for 21 years. Mrs. Reed often speaks of changing times, age and life in general. However there are two things for her that never, never change: he church membership and her political party; a very straight Republican. She has only missed voting in one election since women were granted the right to vote and she plans to vote this fall -- Republican, of course.
