My mother is Marjorie Griffith, dau. of Henry Griffith & Bess Edwards. My dad was Lewie Ramey of Wayne Co., WV. Mother was abt. 13 in that photo. Four years later in 1842 I came along, then my brother in 1944, both born two miles from Blaine on Big Blaine Crk. between Caines Crk. and Lower Laurel Crk.
   Grandpa Griffey, born on Lower Laurel Crk., was desc. from Abel Griffith of Augusta Co., VA. Granny, Bess Edwards, was desc. from Meredith Edwards. Granny's father was Winfield Scott Edwards, his father was William Edwards, and William was the son of Meredith Edwards who married Susannah Caines, dau. of Richard Caines, buried on Caines Creek. Meredith, William, and Winfield  are buried in the Edwards Cem. located near Laurel on Rt. 32. I believe all three Edwards lived and passed on the same land with the same log cabin on Big Blaine Crk. That cabin survived into the early 1900s and my uncle Elmer Griffith b. 1912 remembered the remnants of it. Winfield built a new house around the turn of the century. That house stood abt. 1970s when it burned. Strangely, the owners built a one story log house on the site. I'm sure they prob. have no idea that the original home on that site was also a log cabin! The Griffiths and Edwards lived on opposite sides of Big Blaine Crk. abt. 300 yrds. apart.
   The school photo shows surnames of many KY settlers. Lorraine Butler married Harry Greenville Burton, Jr. She is a second cousin to my mother from the Edwards lineage. Lorraine operated the Burton Grocery Store many years in Blaine. She lived in the large brick house next door to her store and only recently retired in abt. 2001. I have no history of the others in the photo but if you post it on the Law. Co. site I would love to hear from anyone who has information abt. them.
