The Boone Family

 

On Sept. 1, 1997, Nancy Trice, the State Coordinator at the time, received a request to put up a KyGenWeb page on the legendary Daniel Boone. I sent out a call on a couple of the mail lists for info, links, etc. This page is the result. If you know of any Boone pages or have a Boone connection yourself, feel free to send me the information and I'll add it here, but PLEASE do not ask me for any info since all I know is what is right here and I am not researching these lines.


Boone Associations

  1. The Boone Family Association of California, Mary K Boone (treasurer and editor of publication "Boone's Sierra Echoes"), 19248 Rockridge Way, Sonora, CA 95370. In 1990, dues were $10.00, and for $20.00 members can buy a 28-page booklet, "My Boone Family" covering Boone origins and descendants from "Sveide the Norse Viking King in the year 740 A.D." to the Pennsylvania Boone family 1717. Very interesting.

  2. Boone Family Research Association, c/o Mary Ann Shicker, Oak Hill Publications, PO Box 887, Glen Carbon, IL 62034-0887. $10.00 in 1997, and they have a number of Boone publications for sale. This is the successor organization of the Boone Family Research Association of Missouri which published "Boone Pioneer Echoes" for a number of years with valuable research info on Boone family ancestors and descendants which you sometimes find in regional library genealogical collections. Before his death a few years, Louis Boone, the editor of the Echoes, provided info including a case before the United States Supreme Court which proved my connection--a first cousin of Daniel named Hezekiah.

  3. The Boone Society, PO Box 500642, Atlanta, GA 31150-0642. $12.00 1997 The society maintains a data base and adds new members and their Boone ancestors, publishes a newsletter, and hosts an annual reunion. For info and to obtain copy of brochure: Pete Holste

Daniel was in Greenup County, Ky a short time but never registered his deed and lost it. His brother Jessie was prominent in Greenup and Daniel made repeated visits. William James Warnock, one of Jerry Wear's (previous Greenup Co. coordinator) ancestors was one of the 40 men with Daniel coming into KY.

I was surfing your site and came across the Daniel Boone info. From working with them, I know The Filson Club Historical Society has many records and a lot of info on Daniel, this might help some people on him.

I have a web page on my Boon/Boone ancestors. My line descends from Nicholas Boon from England to Isle of Wight Virginia. Jim Cochran has a link for the Daniel Boone page. Ben Cutbirth was my ggggg grandfather, and married to a niece of D. Boone. Boone and Cutbirth were close hunting companions also.
